The Natwest banking app and website is currently down with customers unable to log in.
NatWest customers have taken to social media this morning in rage about not being able to access their banking app and online accounts
Problems are being reported on the Downdetector website this morning with the first issues being reported at around 5.30am this morning, and peaking at about 7.30am.
One user on X said: “@NatWest_Help I cannot get into my online banking or use the app. I have been trying to do this for hours! Really inconvenient as I need to send some payments!! When will this be resolved??”
Another said: “@NatWest_Help your mobile app and online banking are still down. Your service status page is out of date and my internet connection is fine. Update soon please?”
In a post on X, NatWest said: “We’re aware that customers currently aren’t able to access their app or online banking. We’ve reported this internally and it’s currently being looked into by our tech team. We’re hoping this will be resolved as soon as possible.”
NatWest has stated they are investigating the issue with the highest priority
NATWEST APP
NatWest have stated that users can check their website for updates on its service status.
So far, more than 3,900 reports have been logged on DownDetector.
Of those who reported problems, 64 per cent said they were struggling with mobile banking, while 25 per cent were having issues with online banking.
The remaining 10 per cent said the problem was with online login.
NatWest have advised those who need to complete a service to consider doing it another way.
On their website they said: “If you need to complete a transaction you can continue to do this using our Telephone Banking service or alternatively you can visit one of our Branches or ATMs.
“If you are looking to make a payment with us today, please consider sending money another way. You can still use your debit or credit card to make payments and get cash from ATM’s, branches and the Post Office. “
However in response one user said: “Online down – “Visit a branch”… The one in my town closed last year. The one closest to me where I am in London closed earlier this year.
“The nearest branch, even in Central London, is now a mile away. Any better suggestions?”
Many customers are outraged by the number of NatWest branch closures that have have been announced over the past year.
The NatWest Group has revealed an additional 18 RBS bank branches will close in 2024 – on top of the 80 the group had already announced.
NatWest will close 20 Royal Bank of Scotland in total, as well as 68 NatWest branches and 10 Ulster Bank sites in Northern Ireland.
It’s not the first banking group to announce 2024 closures, with Barclays and Lloyds also axing parts of their network.
NatWest said that the way people bank has changed ‘dramatically’ in recent years with an increased demand for mobile and online services.
A spokesman added: “As with many industries, most of our customers are shifting to mobile and online banking, because it’s faster and easier for people to manage their financial lives. We understand and recognise that digital solutions aren’t right for everyone or every situation, and that when we close branches we have to make sure that no one is left behind.
“We take our responsibility seriously to support the people who face challenges in moving online, so we are investing to provide them with support and alternatives that work for them.”
