Princess Kate’s portrait has been branded “dreadful” by fans who say it “looks nothing like her.”
Tatler unveiled a new portrait of the Princess of Wales on the July cover of the magazine.
The portrait, titled ‘The Princess of Wales – A Portrait of Strength and Dignity,’ was created by British-Zambian artist Hannah Uzor.
The princess did not sit for the artwork like a traditional portrait, instead, the artist used different photographs to make the painting.

However, fans were not impressed by the image of the princess branding it “flat”.
One person said: “Portraits are supposed to look like the person who has been painted. This isn’t a good likeness.”
Another fan claimed it was a “dreadfully poor image” and an “appalling error of judgement.”
A third exclaimed: “Hardly an honour when it doesn’t even look like her.”

Kate was the picture of elegance in a gem-embellished white dress from Jenny Packham paired with Queen Mary’s Lover’s Knot Tiara.
The princess also wore her late mother-in-law Princess Diana’s diamond and pearl drop earrings, which were all depicted in Uzor’s portrait.
Other royal fans admired the portrait describing art as an “interpretation” rather than a direct likeness.

One person commented: “It’s art…it’s an interpretation of what the artist sees. I think it’s lovely. Not it’s not 100% what most would want to see, but it’s what the artist saw and felt in her heart and for that it’s lovely.”
Another fan said: “Kind & thoughtful idea. Not a particular likeness, but it is a personal expression, and it’s been done with sweet intent.”
In March, Princess Kate recorded a video from Adelaide Cottage to announce she had begun a course of preventative chemotherapy.
The artist used this video as inspiration for the portrait explaining that it showed a “moment of dealing with something difficult, speaking from the heart, having the courage to tackle it head-on.”
